MICHELLE JACKSON |
Michelle is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BA in English. She formally worked with Camden Media as the advertising/office manager of The Country Chronicle and The Fort Jackson Leader newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina.
A native of Blythewood, Michelle grew up on the south end of Blythewood. She attended Blythewood schools, Spring Valley High School, and has been a resident of Elgin for the past sixteen years.
She is a devoted wife and mother of four children and two grandchildren. Quote: “I am a people person. I really enjoy interacting with so many different people. Each individual gives a unique perspective.” |

KELVIN M. BRISCO |
Kelvin began his college career at Midlands Technical College as a Marketing major. He received an associates degree, but quickly realized that he desired to further his education. He attended the University of South Carolina in the intensive writing English program and graduated with a Bachelor and Master of Arts degree in English. During his career at USC, he had the opportunity to compose many poems, short stories, essays, and articles, and he is currently working on a novel and a short collection of poetry from his writing projects in college. Kelvin is a very diverse person with many interests. He works as a literary critic and a freelance editor. He also works as an educator, relating to his position as an administrator and trainer at a local bank. As well, he is part of a writing group called Alphabet Soup Writer’s Group where he and other writers review and evaluate each other’s work. He idolizes eccentric people, such as spoken word artists, fiction writers, jazz musicians, painters and poets. |

MIKE GREEN |
Michael Green was born in Elmira, New York and moved to South Carolina in 1997. He has two children: one boy and one girl. Michael has four siblings: a twin brother, an older brother and two sisters. Growing up, Michael’s dream job was to be a pilot. Taking the bumpy road in life, his first job was an auto body repair man. From there he has done construction, been a mechanic, a salesman, and a gas station sales associate. Michael became interested in the newspaper business, and has found his niche in graphic design, and has been working with it for some time. Being the Production Manager of The Blythewood Leader and Lugoff Elgin Leader, Michael’s responsibilities extend from ad design to layout to production. A few of his favorites include: favorite color- blue, favorite vehicle- Corvette (although he doesn’t currently own one) and favorite holiday is Christmas.

TOM POLAND |
Tom Poland’s work has appeared in magazines throughout the South. A frequent contributor to magazines, he has written approximately 500 features. He’s published five books. Poland’s first book, South Carolina—The Natural Heritage, was published in 1989 by the University of South Carolina Press. James Dickey wrote the foreword. In 1994, the University of South Carolina Press published his second book, South Carolina—A Timeless Journey. The University of South Carolina published his third book, Reflections of South Carolina in 1999. In 2005, Bookhouse Group published his fourth book, A Just & Noble Cause. In 2007, AuthorHouse published his novel, Forbidden Island—An Island Called Sapelo. He began writing weekly columns for newspapers in 2008. For six years, Tom worked as a scriptwriter and cinematographer, working primarily along the South Carolina Lowcountry and its barrier islands. He’s served as an editor and a managing editor of two magazines. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Masters in Education from the University of Georgia. He has lived in Columbia, South Carolina, much of his adult life. He’s a native of Lincolnton, Georgia. |
